Today, as news of the arrest of Amjad Yousef—the butcher of the Tadamon massacre who cast living souls into a pit of death—dominates the media, a fundamental question arises: Are we witnessing true justice, or a performance of “selective justice”? The bitter truth is that Amjad Yousef was not arrested because he is a criminal, but because he became the “exposed face” of an authority that continues to practice the same methodology under the guise of the “de facto” status quo.
The Authority as an Architect of Hatred The great irony lies in the fact that the same authority claiming to hold Amjad Yousef accountable is the one that entrenched hostility among the people. We have seen with our own eyes “influencers” affiliated with this authority openly inciting the throwing of Alawites from mountains and into the sea, using nauseating sectarian slogans like: “Lest you say the fish or the dogs went hungry in the time of the Umayyads.” These were not spontaneous outbursts; they were “paid-for trends” and systematic campaigns aimed at tearing the social fabric apart. The authority that tries Amjad today is the same one that remained silent about these instigators—and even funded them—confirming that “Amjad Yousef” is not just an officer, but the very mindset of the authority itself.
Selective Justice and “Identity-Based” Pride It is a glaring contradiction that Amjad Yousef is being tried today while other elements belonging to the same authority remain free, despite documenting their own atrocities! We have watched videos of personnel throwing innocent people from heights and killing them based on their identity. This scene was literally repeated in Swaida, where cameras documented the “Al-Arnous” massacre, showing the field execution of three young men after they were forced to jump from a balcony. Why is Amjad held accountable while the killers of Al-Arnous are left untouched? And why do the “White Helmets” rush to answer calls of incitement, contributing to the concealment of bodies in seas and mountains instead of revealing the truth? The answer is simple: it is selective justice that seeks to win over the public and polish the authority’s image without touching the core of systematic criminality.
The Authority is Amjad Yousef The truth that must be stated clearly: Amjad Yousef is still among us. • He exists in every security decision built on hatred and division. • He exists in every inciting video funded by the de facto authority’s media to strike at social cohesion. • He exists in every “pit” dug by the authority to lure Syrians into sectarian wars, ensuring its survival atop the ruins of civil peace.
The authority that produced thousands of “Amjad Yousefs” cannot be both the adversary and the judge. Today’s arrest of Amjad is merely an attempt to offer a “symbolic sacrifice,” while the “Great Amjad”—the authority and its system—continues to institutionalize violence and reproduce violations, casting Syrians into pits of hatred and field executions.
Ultimately, there is no justice as long as the criminal is the one writing the arrest warrant, and as long as “throwing people from balconies” and “identity-based killing” remain protected policies practiced by an authority that feeds on the blood and agony of its victims.
